Activities, Sports and Trips

Printer-friendly version

When you are not studying, there are many ways you can have fun during your time at City College Plymouth!

The International Office organises many trips and parties during the year for your enjoyment. During our Orientation Programme in September we take students on a coach tour of Plymouth and Dartmoor National Park and also arrange an afternoon boat trip in the sea around Plymouth.

Every year we organise a weekend trip to London, and day trips to Bath, Stonehenge, and other local places of interest around Plymouth. We also offer a Christmas party each year for our international students to experience British Christmas traditions and food, and we also celebrate Chinese New Year with a big party with food and entertainment by students, attended by senior management at the College and the Lord Mayor of Plymouth.

Students' Union

The City College Plymouth Students’ Union encourages all students to get involved in many ways. You can become your course representative and support your classmates by attending Student Council meetings, or you could stand for election as one of two international student representatives on the Students’ Union committee to represent the views and interests of all international students in the College. This is also a great way to gain confidence in speaking English and is a great addition to a CV.

Student Liaison

The Student Liaison Team provides a programme of weekly activities - sporting and cultural - which are a great way for international students to meet students with similar interests and to practise English outside the classroom.
Sports offered include team sports such as football and basketball, tennis, badminton and swimming, and there is also a College gym run by a qualified instructor, and regular fitness and exercise classes. There is also the opportunity to take driving theory classes if you want to take a driving test in Plymouth. There is a low cost annual membership with free access to unlimited activities.
